Welcome to Schlinig

small, but special!

1726 m a.s. l.

Schlinig, the idyllic little village at the end of the valley of the same name, belongs to the municipality of Mals. Wide meadows and steep mountain slopes surround the village which is set against the backdrop of Watles and the surrounding giant peaks. Its unique location at the head of this beautiful valley makes Schlinig a jewel for anyone seeking mountain adventure, peace - or both.

A tiny village with a lot of character: Around 200 inhabitants, a church with history and a farming life that has always remained alive give Schlinig its charm. Close-knit community life keeps traditional festivals and customs alive, and visitors too feel welcome, part of it and at home.

Schlinig was once an important crossing point into neighbouring Swiss regions. Goods were carried across the Schlinigerjoch pass, keeping alive the ties between South Tyrol and Switzerland. A popular hiking trail still tells this story today, leading via the Sesvenna hut and through the Uinaschlucht gorge into the Engadin.
