Welcome to Glurns
Small town that is big on charm
907 m a.s.l.
This medieval town in the Oberer Vinschgau has just under 1,000 inhabitants and is not only the smallest town in South Tyrol, but also the smallest in the Alps. Its completely preserved and partly walkable town walls with three intact city gates are truly unique. The medieval heart of Glurns, with its arcades, cobbled lanes, historic town houses and the late Gothic parish church St. Pankratius, makes a stay here a cultural adventure.
Granted town status as early as 1291, Glurns grew into an important trading centre thanks to its location on the Via Claudia Augusta, and its vibrant atmosphere can still be felt today. The town lives from its special mix of historical depth and lively present: craft shops, small cafés and the Paul Flora Museum, which brings the alpine art of local artist Paul Flora to life, invite you to explore.
The town is a hub of celebration, bargaining, strolling, and wonder throughout the year. Events include the autumn market, the flower and garden market, the Palabirnentage pear days, the widely renowned Sealamorkt market, or the reflective Glurns Advent. With its wealth of architecture and culture, it is no wonder Glurns is one of the “Borghi più belli d’Italia”. Take your time for a place that has so much to offer lovers of culture and enjoyment.
