welcome to Graun

Where history and holidays come alive

1502 m a.s. l.

Graun, a small village in the tripoint of Italy, Austria and Switzerland, is best known for its spectacular landmark: the church tower rising from the waters of Reschensee lake. The Romanesque tower from 1357 is more than just a photo motif. It tells the story of a village that once stood here and disappeared in the floods of 1950.

The “new” Graun lies directly on the shore of Reschensee lake, quiet, charming and full of character. What was once a farming village has become a popular destination for nature lovers and active holidaymakers. Whether hiking, biking, kiting or simply enjoying the most beautiful landscapes - in Graun pristine nature and modern leisure go hand in hand.

Culture enthusiasts are in exactly the right place in this history-rich village. The Vinschger Oberland museum reveals fascinating insights, and the Gothic St. Anna church offers not only rich history but also a breathtaking view over Reschensee lake and the surrounding peaks.

The tower in the lake

The sunken Romanesque church tower from the 14th century is many things: idyllic, a sought-after photo motif, the setting for romantic moments and a silent witness to a dam project after the Second World War that still moves people to this day.
