The peaceful village of Burgeis, on the sunny slope of the Oberer Vinschgau, belongs to the municipality of Mals. Lying on the right side of the valley, at the foot of the Watles, the village offers a wonderful view of the Ortler massif. Its unique setting between meadows and the impressive Malser Haide makes it a popular destination at any time of year.

Marienberg abbey

Fürstenburg Castle
The medieval castle marks the southern entrance to Burgeis. Once the seat of the bishops of Chur, today an agricultural school with historic flair. The courtyard, chapel and old walls tell of power, change and Vinschgau culture.
St. Nikolaus Church
One of the oldest sacred buildings in the Vinschgau, this church impresses with Romanesque architecture and valuable frescoes. Set in a quiet location on the hillside above the village, it invites you to take a moment and linger with its unique mix of history, art and view.
Adventure Mountain Watles

Location & arrival
Burgeis lies in the Oberer Vinschgau in the west of South Tyrol, on the sunny slope below the Adventure Mountain Watles and close to the Malser Haide.
From the north:
Innsbruck Landeck
From Innsbruck and the Fernpass, continue over the Reschenpass and along the main road to Burgeis.
From the south:
Bozen Meran
The MEBO express road (Meran-Bozen) flows directly into the Vinschgau state road, which takes you via Mals to Burgeis.
Whether coming from the north, west or south, Burgeis can be conveniently and easily reached by public transport.
