Welcome to Langtaufers
In the valley of originality
1915 m a.s. l.
The Langtauferer valley, simply called Langtaufers, is a part of the municipality of Graun. In the northwest of South Tyrol, it stretches ten kilometres east from Graun as a high Alpine side valley. It is considered one of the most untouched valleys in the Alps and is a touring paradise in every season. For those seeking seclusion and fresh mountain air, Langtaufers often becomes their favourite place.
The lowest farms lie at an altitude of 1500, the highest year-round settlement is Melag at 1915 metre above sea level. Small hamlets, scattered mountain farms and wide alpine pastures form a cultural landscape that has remained largely unspoilt. At the head of the valley the view opens to the mighty peaks of the Ötztal Alps.
The majestic Weißkugel and the impressive Tiergartenspitze hint at the possibilities awaiting nature lovers here. Both those seeking peace and those looking for action enjoy the authenticity of the valley. The road leads to the hamlet of Melag at the end of the valley - from there onwards only on foot.
