Welcome to Reschen
A village with cross-border flair
1508 m a.s. l.
The village of Reschen lies in the tripoint of Italy, Austria and Switzerland at the height of the Reschenpass, which is just one kilometre away: an important Alpine crossing even in Roman times, today connecting North and South Tyrol. Northeast of Reschen springs the Etsch, which flows through the Vinschgau and, as Italy’s second longest river, reaches the Adriatic at Rosolina.
The border village Reschen - whose name goes back to an old farmstead - has a fascinating and moving history. For just like neighbouring Alt-Graun, much of old Reschen was flooded in 1950 for the reservoir.
The hamlet of Rojen in the northwest of the village is, at 2000 metres above sea level, the highest permanently inhabited settlement of South Tyrol. From here the Rojental valley stretches out, a natural paradise spoiling outdoor lovers with wonderful possibilities.
Highlights in summer
In Reschen summer freshness meets action and alpine panorama. Is it any wonder that a sense of delightful enthusiasm hovers over the water and the mountain ranges? A network of possibilities unfolds all around the village by the lake: Hikers and bikers enjoy varied routes at all altitudes, while sailors and kiters use the excellent wind conditions for their flow experience.

Thanks to the nearby valley station, skiers and snowboarders are right on the threshold of the Schöneben-Haideralm ski area. And snowkiters feel at home on the Lake Reschen amongst the wind and ice.
