Watles natural toboggan run

Speedy, snowy fun

Tobogganing fun is something you'll want to experience again and again. Nothing could be easier at Watles adventure mountain. The four-kilometre natural toboggan run winding through the larch forest from Watles is one of the most beautiful of its kind in South Tyrol.

It is a real insider tip for families and friends. Those who prefer it leisurely can reach the start comfortably with the chairlift. Those who like things a bit more sporty can take the one-and-a-half-hour climb on foot.

Tracks in the snow

Watles also offers ideal conditions and real challenges for winter hikers, snowshoe hikers, and ski tourers. A number of routes lead through snow-covered forests, across alpine pastures and huts - including cleared leisurely trails into the high mountains.

The ascent from the valley station to the Watles summit cross via a specially prepared track is always a dreamlike adventure. With its own downhill slope for ski tourers, the Watles ski area is still considered a highlight for passionate ski mountaineers.

Winter hikes

The sound of snow crunching underfoot always brings a smile to winter walkers. The dream-like snow-covered mountain landscape around Erlebnisberg Watles invites long hikes through forests and meadows, across pastures and alpine terrain.
Countless hiking routes and groomed paths through the winter wonderland await, ready to be enjoyed with every step in crisp air and outstanding views.

Like everything else on the Watles adventure mountain, the hiking conditions are also entirely family-friendly. Many winter hiking trails are lined with huts with inviting sun terraces, where young and old alike are welcome to enjoy delicious food and soak up the sun.

Snowshoe hiking

A variety of trails with panoramic views. The Watles ski area, with its extensive, well-marked network of paths - from gentle forest walks to challenging high-alpine routes with breathtaking views of the South Tyrolean three-thousanders - is a playground for snowshoe hikers of every fitness level. A special treat awaits on the winter hiking trail reserved exclusively for snow-shoeing and ski tourers, leading from the valley station up to the Watles summit cross.

Want nature and regional knowledge in one trip? A guided snowshoe hike offers both in one package. Along the way, rustic huts invite you to take a break and enjoy local delicacies. Too beautiful to experience only by day? Join us every Friday from 7:00 pm for an evening tour. Sledge evenings with a cosy stop at the Plantapatschhütte alternate weekly with snowshoe evenings including a delightful break at the Höferalm. Active night owls are rewarded with South Tyrolean dishes, hot drinks, and lively hut fun.

Snowshoe rental is available at Skiverleih Ziernheld at the Watles valley station.

Ski tours

Nature at its finest with wide-open views. The winter sports area of Watles offers perfect conditions for ski tourers who want to experience the quiet, untouched winter landscape away from the pistes. Two clearly signposted and specially designated ascent routes ensure safe interaction between ski tourers and skiers.

  • Höfer Alm route: Starting in Prämajur, this route passes the welcoming Höfer Alm and leads directly to the Watles summit at 2,550 metres.

  • Route via the Großes Sautal valley: Another popular ascent, this route follows a prepared trail right up to the Watles summit at 2,550 metres.

For a safe and enjoyable ski tour, experience, local knowledge and suitable equipment are essential. Check the latest weather and snow conditions in advance - and take them seriously.
