Cross-country skiing enthusiasts have every reason to smile in the Holiday region Reschensee lake. Perfectly groomed trails, spectacular mountain scenery and absolute snow sureness make every Nordic adventure a delight. Whether along the lakeshore, through the idyllic Langtauferertal valley or across the borders in the tripoint area: classic and skating fans alike will find routes suited to their fitness level.
Nordic Ski Centre Schlinig
Small, select & world-class
The sleepy mountain village of Schlinig at the foot of the Sesvenna Alps awakens in winter as a hotspot for cross-country fans. Both skaters and classic-style skiers will be in heaven on the 22-kilometre trail from the village to the Schliniger Alm.
Off the trail too, the Nordic Ski Centre offers everything a cross-country heart desires: changing rooms, toilets, waxing service, rental and a well-established ski school. Regular national and international competitions are a testimony to the quality of the area, which, thanks to roller tracks, even welcomes summer training.
Langtaufer high-altitude trail
Cross-country skiing fun begins at the end of the valley
Between crisp mountain air and breathtaking panoramas, the seven-kilometre snow-sure high-altitude trail winds its way through the head of the Langtaufers valley at the foot of the mountains. Varied circular routes through pine forest, alongside the bubbling Karlinbach stream and across snowy meadows make this a first-class winter nature experience.
A highlight for both classic skiers and skaters: the short climb to the Melager Alm, where a cosy hut stop awaits. Perfectly prepared from December to April, the high-altitude trail attracts hobby skiers and pros alike. Thanks to the legendary La Venosta Rennen, the Langtaufer high-altitude trail has become known among athletes from near and far.
Reschensee cross-country trail
Panoramic and gentle
Step straight onto the trails at the “Mein Dörfl” restaurant in Reschen. The Reschensee cross-country trail leads from the lakeshore at Gandlan across open meadows, past the old village and the Pofel lift, before a gentle 300-metre descent brings you close to the Italian-Austrian border. If you are still feeling sporty, extend your adventure onto the Three Country Ski Trail and glide further on to Nauders in the neighbouring region.
With just 30 metres of elevation gain to the border and 80 metres to Nauders, beginners and hobby skiers will feel comfortable here along the entire route. You can look forward to an easy, sun-filled cross-country experience with international flair.
