Water sports – action and relaxation
Kitesurfing and sailing may not be the first two sports that come to mind when thinking of South Tyrol… but they’re definitely on the menu in Reschen! Take a boat trip on the MS Hubertus to learn all about the sunken villages. Lake Haider is another good option for water sports or simply chilling out. And the steady breeze is much appreciated by sailors and kitesurfers.

Culture and events – history and traditions from up close
Castles, Romanesque churches and impressive monuments such as the Marienberg monastery and the historical Alpine Wall bunker at the Reschen Pass bear witness to the region’s long history. Glurns, South Tyrol’s smallest town, enchants visitors with its medieval flair and perfectly preserved walls. You can look forward to a dip into local traditions such as Scheibenschlagen (disc throwing) and Krampusläufe (Krampus runs). Visit the local markets and discover delicious specialities, including Vinschger Almkäse (alpine cheese), Palabirnen (pears) and even local whisky. To dive deeper into the local culinary and rural culture, we recommend a farm tour.
WHY CHOOSE THE LAKE RESCHEN AREA AS YOUR NEXT DESTINATION

The local traditions and cuisine are definitely worth exploring, and so are the local mountains. Alpine huts – a breather, a snack and a view
The local landscape is characterised by Alpine pastures extending at over 2,000 metres of altitude, with over 80 huts open to the public for refreshment. Take a break from your hike and indulge with homemade specialities while basking in the sun on the terrace of one of the huts. Many alpine farmers produce their own cheese, butter and dairy products – definitely worth a taste! For those who like multi-day tours, there are mountain huts and shelters even at high altitudes. The mountain scenery, with its vast spaces and heavenly tranquillity, guarantees pure relaxation.
Families – adventures for young and old
The SportWell sports centre in Mals, with its outdoor pool, slides, tennis courts and football pitches, offers everything the young ones need to play sports, romp around and have fun. Head to the 3D archery range on Mt. Watles and in the Talai forest for an opportunity to try your hand with bow and arrows, and if you’re a keen angler, you’ll be glad to know that Lake Reschen and Lake Haider teem with trout, pike and perch.
